Hi all,

I have a dark-themed Hotwire Native app (Robinhood or Spotify-like) where all of the pages have a dark background (#272B30). When navigating between pages, there’s an annoying brief white flash while the WKWebview component renders the page.

I’d like for the rendering background color to match the app’s background color. I’ve tried setting some various properties on the WKWebview (underPageBackgroundColor, etc.) but nothing appears to affect the webview’s color when rendering content.

If I can’t change the WKWebview’s color while rendering, my guess is my only option is some hack to temporarily show something with the right color and then swap that out with the rendered content once the app detects that the webview has finished loading or something? If this is the case, are there any tutorials or anything out there that anyone knows of that show how to do this?

Thank you!

Turns out that you need to set your app’s UI style to dark in XCode’s `Info.plist` file:

> **[UIUserInterfaceStyle | Apple Developer Documentation](https://developer.apple.com/documentation/bundleresources/information-property-list/uiuserinterfacestyle)**
>
> The user interface style for the app.
